Considerations for Selecting Degree The Associate of Science in Social Science, Major in Communications is designed specifically for those students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university and have an interest in either a major or minor in communication or media studies. The Associate of Science in Social Science, Major in Communications is not affiliated with Transfer Virginia common curriculum and is unique to WCC.
Considerations When Selecting Courses

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
  • Connect with an advisor at your community college and Wytheville Community College within your first year via College Connect
Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses
Doing More With Your Degree Students are encouraged to become acquainted with the requirements of the college or university to which she or he is considering for transfer and to regularly consult with his/her community college advisor in planning their program and selecting electives. Students should successfully complete all community college courses meeting the grade requirement of “C”.

Associate Transfer Degree Completion Students who transfer with a completed Associate degree will be awarded SDV 100 and will have their transcript evaluated for other individual course transfer. Students who transfer with a completed Bachelor degree from a U.S. college or university will be awarded SDV 100, ENG 111 and ENG 112. The transcript will be evaluated for other individual course transfer.
