Considerations for Selecting Degree The Associate of ScienceÊDegree in Social Science is designed specifically for those students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university but who may be uncertain about a specific major. The Associate of ScienceÊDegree in Social ScienceÊis not affiliated with Transfer Virginia common curriculum and is unique to WCC.
Considerations When Selecting Courses

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
  • Connect with an advisor at your community college and Wytheville Community College within your first year
Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses
Doing More With Your Degree Students are encouraged to become acquainted with the requirements of the college or university to which she or he is considering for transfer and to regularly consult with his/her community college advisor in planning their program and selecting electives. Students should successfully complete all community college courses meeting the grade requirement of ÒCÓ.
Program Successes & Highlights If you are unsure about what career is best for you or what your specific major should be, then completing an AAS degree in General Studies will help you satisfy the basic core requirements that are required when you transfer. By completing this degree, you will have junior status at the 4 year college/university and will only have to satisfy the major course requirements.

Transfer Guidance Element What You Need to Know
Associate Transfer Degree Completion Students who transfer with a completed Associate degree will be awarded SDV 100 and will have their transcript evaluated for other individual course transfer. Students who transfer with a completed Bachelor degree from a U.S. college or university will be awarded SDV 100, ENG 111 and ENG 112. The transcript will be evaluated for other individual course transfer.
