The curricula consist of courses in general education (including foreign language, natural science, and social science) typically required in the first two years of a baccalaureate curriculum in the social sciences.

The Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts lays the foundation for a Bachelor of Arts degree in art and art history, ASL-English Interpretation, communication, Deaf studies, English/literature, history, humanities, journalism, music, philosophy, pre-law, social sciences, speech-language pathology, religious studies, and world languages. The liberal arts promote a broad background of knowledge across the arts, humanities, languages, and social sciences to develop students' abilities in analytical and critical thinking, written and oral communication, and understanding global cultural awareness. The Liberal Arts degree is a two-year program designed for those students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree. While the program is designed to provide transfer paths that will match the requirements of four-year colleges and universities, the requirements may differ. Therefore, students are strongly urged to work with their assigned advisor and to acquaint themselves with the requirements of the major department in the college or university to which they plan to transfer. This program requires intermediate proficiency (two years of coursework or its equivalent) in a language other than English.

The Pre-Social Work specialization is designed for students who plan to transfer to Virginia Commonwealth University and major in social work. This specialization was developed in collaboration with VCU, and an articulation agreement exists for eligible students who transfer to VCU. Students who pursue a different degree program at VCU will be subject to a reevaluation of transferable credits for their elected course of study. Students interested in this specialization should meet with the Pre-Social Work program head at Reynolds and are required to do so during their first semester of study.

Occupational titles of administration of justice professionals may include, depending on educational attainment and experience, Police Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Dispatcher, Crime Scene Technician, Investigator, Corrections Officer, Probation/Parole Officer, and Deputy Court Clerk.

Job opportunities for students include local, state, and federal enforcement officers, police officers, private or government investigators, adult/juvenile correction officers, probation/parole officers and counselors, security directors (managers), loss prevention directors, classification managers, and personnel clearance administrators. Most of the ADJ courses in this curriculum are 'core courses' that provide a basic entry-level foundation in both criminal justice and security administration. These courses must be taken by ALL STUDENTS in this program. At several points in the curriculum, 'course options' are provided for selection by the students.

Courses taken in the certificate program can be applied to the A.A.S. degree.

The Associate of Applied Arts (A.A.A.) degree in Studio Arts is designed for those entering or continuing in the field of visual arts, which may include the study of two- and three-dimensional design, photography, ceramics, glass, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and drawing. Students gain extensive studio experience, learning from masters in visual art media. Students are prepared for employment in museums, art centers, galleries, and similar areas; they are also prepared for owning a business in the arts or for personal enrichment in one or more areas of the visual arts.
