Prepares students for competitive admission or guaranteed admission to the Associate Degree in the Nursing (ADN) program or the Practical Nursing (PN) Certificate program with the majority of general education courses completed. Considerations for Selecting Degree The Pre-Nursing Career Studies Certificate is designed to prepare students for competitive admission or guaranteed admission to the Associate Degee in Nursing program or the Practical Nurse Certificate program.
Considerations When Selecting Courses

Students must select a course for each course requirement from the applicable required course list.

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
  • Connect with an advisor at your community college and Rappahannock Community College within your first year via College Connect
Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses
Doing More With Your Degree Courses in the first semester of the Pre-Nursing Certificate constitute the prerequisite courses required for application to the Associate Degree Nursing Program
Program Successes & Highlights Students are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam leading to certification as a nurse aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
