The Infant and Toddler Career Studies Certificate is designed to meet the qualification requirements of the Office of Head Start assistants in Early Head Start. This statewide certificate is intended to align efforts in early childhood education programs aimed at increasing quality in programs serving young children. Considerations for Selecting Degree The Infant and Toddler Career Studies Certificate is designed to meet the qualification requirements of the Office of Head Start assistants in Early Head Start.
Considerations When Selecting Courses

This statewide certificate is intended to align efforts in early childhood education programs aimed at increasing quality in programs serving young children. The certificate is open to all students including Head Start Staff.

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
  • Connect with an advisor at your community college and Southwest Virginia Community College within your first year via College Connect
Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses Program Requirements: The Infant and Toddler Career Studies Certificate is open to all students with a high school diploma and proficiency in ready and writing. A background check is required prior to participation in CHO 165.
Doing More With Your Degree This CSC will lead to employment or serve as a stepping stone to the AAS and then a Bachelors.
Program Successes & Highlights The lead faculty member is well known within the Commonwealth. Opportunities for internship and observation placement are broad. Stackable credentials lead to opportunities for a bachelors degree through JMU.
