Learning Outcomes

- Name ionic","molecular and acidic inorganic compounds.
- Define and use correctly basic chemical vocabulary.
- Use dimensional analysis to convert units and solve problems. The answers should have the correct units and the appropriate number of significant figures.
- Use the concept of the mole in basic chemical calculations including percent composition","determining the empirical formula of a compound and in calculations utilizing Avogadro’s number
- Balance chemical reactions and use stoichiometric relationships to calculate reactant amount or product yield for reactions involving solids","solutions or gases","considering limiting and excess reagents
- Calculate the concentration of solutions and predict the product of simple metathesis reactions involving solutions
- Calculate heats of reaction given calorimetry data","heats of formation","or other applications of Hess's Law
- Recognize and describe an oxidation reduction reaction
- Describe the behavior of ideal and real gases in terms of the Kinetic Molecular Theory and quantitatively predict the behavior and properties of ideal gases and gas mixtures using the empirical gas laws for ideal gases
