Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses This is an online certificate program that is offered biennially. Applicants for Computed Tomography must have completed an approved program in radiography, radiation oncology or nuclear medicine technology. The student must be registered or registry eligible by the appropriate certification agency. All students must have a current CPR Healthcare Provider certification and must maintain that certification throughout the program. Applicants must have maintained a “C” average in past program courses in the discipline of certification.

Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School Applicants for Computed Tomography must have completed an approved program in radiography, radiation oncology or nuclear medicine technology. The student must be registered or registry eligible by the appropriate certification agency. All students must have a current CPR Healthcare Provider certification and must maintain that certification throughout the program. Applicants must have maintained a “C” average in past program courses in the discipline of certification. The technologist is eligible to apply to take the national registry examination leading to advanced certification in CT by the ARRT. Program courses satisfy The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists' Structured Education Requirements for post-primary certification and registration.

Virginia Western Community College's service region includes the cities of Roanoke and Salem, along with Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. Virginia Western was the first college established in the Virginia Community College System, in 1966, and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of more than 8,500 students in credit courses and more than 1,200 enrollments in accelerated career training and continuing education courses.
