The certificate program in Practical Nursing is designed to prepare beginning practitioners for careers as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with the knowledge and skills to care for clients of all age groups and function as contributing members of the health care team in a variety of health service facilities. At the successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) leading to licensure as a practical nurse.

Considerations for Selecting Degree The certificate program in Practical Nursing is designed to prepare beginning practitioners for careers as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with the knowledge and skills to care for clients of all age groups and function as contributing members of the health care team in a variety of health service facilities. Program Application Requirements to Apply for Admission In addition to the general admission requirements established for the College, minimum standards for entry into the program are: Complete application to ESCC High School Diploma or GED, copy to accompany application to program GPA of 2.0 or better IF GPA less than 2.0 or have been out of school more than 5 years, recommend English EDE10; math recommendation of MDE10 Completion of Criminal Background, Drug screening Completion of Physical examination with PPD or chest x-ray Current record of immunizations including MMR, Varicella, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and COVID vaccinations Grade of ā€œCā€ or better in all curriculum courses Complete HESI Admission testing for Practical Nursing Program Current CPR (BLS), copy of card to accompany application Complete program application (January through February) Recommend all general education courses completed prior to entrance of program. Applicants selected are offered provisional acceptance until completion of criminal background and drug screening, physical examination, and submission of immunizations records.

Transfer Guidance Element What You Need to Know
Associate Transfer Degree Completion Students must earn 25% of their credits at ESCC for an Associate degree from our institution. Students who transfer to ESCC with a completed Associate degree will be awarded SDV 100 and will have their transcript evaluated for other course transfer. Students who transfer to ESCC with a completed Bachelor degree from a U.S. college or university will be awarded SDV 100, ENG 111 and ENG 112. The transcript will be evaluated for other course transfer.

Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School ESCC does not distinguish between students earning an associate degree concurrently, while in high school, or after high school graduation.
