For over a century, film has played an important role in both American and global popular culture. Films have the power to entertain, frighten, and inspire. Films link creators and audiences in a complex and contested dynamic. This course examines film’s circulation of cultural meaning through movie screenings and through the study of film aesthetics, theories, and genres.
