HIST218: Introduction to Archaeology

An introduction to the theories and methods used by archaeologists to reconstruct the cultural practices of past human societies, from religion and authority to domestic life and trade. Case studies introduce students to archaeological sites in places such as Egypt, Greece, Mesoamerica, and North America.(Cross-listed as ANTH 218/ARTH 218). (1) Lecture: 3 hrs/wk.
